Preparations begin for operation of Central Asia-China Gas Pipeline

On March 16, the training course for operational managers of the Central Asia-China Gas Pipeline began in Beijing. The 24 students, with an average age of 24, are all graduates from Kazakhstan. Mr. Mukhamedkali Bakbergenov, Education Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan to China, attended the launch ceremony and delivered a speech.

The training course will last six months. During the first five months, the students will learn specialized theoretical knowledge related to gas transmission facilities and pipeline management at China University of Petroleum in Beijing. During the final month, they will gain practical experience at transportation stations of PetroChina Pipeline Company.

According to plan, the Central Asia-China gas pipeline will enter the stage of carrying out the construction and operationat thesame time since Jan. 1, 2010. At present, preparations have commenced for the pipeline's commercial operation, and technological, commercial and legal preparations for the gauging calibration, gas transit declaration and gas delivery agreements are proceeding as scheduled.
